SPECIAL RECOGNITION

MIKE GRADY and MARCELLE McCULLOUGH

Mike Grady (center) and Marcelle McCullough (right) were honored at the 2009 RBCERTAA Picnic for their service to CERT. Mike Grady is the first recipient of the Mike Grady Award named in his honor for his outstanding commitment to CERT over the past 10 years. Marcelle McCullough was honored for her work as RBCERTAA President the past two years and for being instrumental in making the Alumni Association drill in November 2008 for the Great Southern California Shakeout Drill a success. CAROL BLISS

It is with great sadness that we share with you the news that RBCERT Alumnus Carol Bliss, and wife of our RBCERT liaison, Captain Dan Bliss of the Redondo Beach Fire Department lost her valiant fight with cancer on November 7, 2007.

Many of us fought the fight with Carol as we walked in her honor over a weekend at the Relay for Life with the American Cancer Society this past Fall. As our prayers are with Carol, our hearts go out to the Bliss family.

Her designated charity is the Ride To Fly organization, serving the South Bay since 1994 and dedicated to providing therapeutic horseback riding and the associated learning experiences to children and adults with disabilities in a safe, nurturing environment.

SPECIAL RECOGNITION

In Memory of Peter DePortillo

We are deeply saddened by the sudden loss of fellow Board Member,
Peter DePortillo, who passed away on March 20th. 2006. Peter was an
active and dedicated member of RBCERTAA. He served on a variety of RBCERTAA committees and also acted as co-Safety Officer during
Graduation Training Drills. He is survived by a wife and two daughters.
We will miss him dearly.

In Memory of Randy Stacy

We are all saddened by the great loss of our friend Randy Stacy.
Randy was recently elected as president of our alumni association.
RBCERTAA will not be the same without his enthusiasm and genuine care for our community.
We will dearly miss you.
